Fallon has the distinction of being the furthest point south on the W&I that still ships grain. Today though, the loading tracks are empty, and the covered hoppers in todays train are empty, having brought fertilizer south. |

Railroad History of Palouse WA |
Description: |
The concrete pillar is the only renaming part of a huge wooden trestle that once spanned the valley here in Palouse. On it is a sign talking about the railroad history of the town. Meanwhile in the background, the W&I "logger" train is tied down after a run across the old WI&M. |

Sidelined for now |
Description: |
WIR #20 and #316 sit tucked away on a siding in Palouse. The #20 is down with electrical problems, and the 316 has mechinacal issues. With the two new dash 8s the W&I can now afford to take these units out of service to fix them up. I am told they plan to at least repair the #20 and bring it back to service. |
